Good-bye To The Dope

February 11, 2013

Thanks to arkcode for the image.*

I’m very glad to see this particular Dope leave office. While I would stop short of wishing him ill health, I must say that he has been a truly awful Pope/Dope, in my opinion.

Remember, this is the Dope who said that the indigenous peoples of the Americas had been silently longing for Christianity to come … and to enslave and slaughter them.

Anger at Pope’s Brazil comments

This is also the Dope who threatened to excommunicate women who were so religious that they wanted to be priests. Way to win points with your female followers. Dope.

Vatican says will excommunicate women priests

And, of course, he believes gay marriage is insidious and dangerous. Dangerous? Really??!!? Dope!

Pope: Gay Marriage is ‘Insidious and Dangerous’

The one downside is the very real possibility that Richard Dawkins is right about the Dope, that he will destroy the whole rotten edifice of the Catholic Church.

Ratzinger is the Perfect Pope

Last, but very far from least, let’s not forget that this is the same Dope who tried to cover up rampant pedophilia in the Catholic Church.

More Evidence Emerges That Pope Benedict Helped Shield Pedophiles Before He Became Pope

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Good-bye Dope Nazinger!

* Though I don’t support what ArkCode does, I hope and suspect that the author will not mind my use of this image in this way, especially with the link to his post underneath. Barry, if I am incorrect and you would like this removed, please post a comment and I will remove it as soon as I see your comment. Thanks.

God Is Too Busy To Stop Wars & Starvation

February 4, 2013

At last, we finally know why God is too busy to stop wars and solve hunger. It’s not just because He is too busy creating droughts, floods, extreme storms, wildfires, and all the rest. It’s because he’s busy interfering in the fair competitions of sporting events. Instead of allowing sporting events to remain fair, the Lord God Ruler of the Universe feels the need to get involved on the field and choose the winner.

At least, a quarter of Americans feel that this is what He is doing.

Poll: Quarter of Americans say God influences sporting events

Why can’t humans dream up a god who is superior to us? What’s the point of creating an imaginary friend to whom one can pray for the temporary suspension of the laws of physics if said imaginary friend is no better than we are?

For the record, count me among the small number who disapprove of the expressions of faith mentioned in the article. I disapprove for the same reason I disapprove of thanking god for rain after a drought. Why not blame god for the drought in the first place?

Lady Pens; Lady Weights; Lady Cars — WTF?!

February 1, 2013

What the fuck is going on these days? Women, why are you allowing this? Why are these products selling? Is this all part of the repugnican war on women? Are women now allowing themselves to be subjugated in the way that repugnicans want, even down to the products they buy?

Scientists Respond to Creationism

January 28, 2013

Unfortunately, scientists are still in the position of having to respond to complete and utter bullshit. There are some good responses in here to why this is a real problem. Unfortunately, I bet there will be induhviduals who respond on this thread in defense of creationism. If you are about to do so, please make sure to at least watch the video first.

My favorite response in this particular video is the one regarding the human eye and jaw as they reflect on the incompetency of god and provide better evidence of unintelligent design than the other kind.

Perhaps We Have the Government We Deserve

January 21, 2013

They say that we get the government we deserve. I have long disagreed and thought that the government was far worse than we actually deserve. However, after reading this, I have to wonder.

Is it possible that the government is actually better than we-the-idiots deserve?

Bill O’Reilly is not a Catholic (And So Can You!)

December 8, 2012

Sorry, I couldn’t resist modifying FFRF’s title to be a humorous reference to Stephen Colbert. I hope he won’t mind.

Anyway, this is a fantastic article about what the Catholic church requires for someone to call themselves a Catholic. According to church doctrine, if you don’t meet the requirements, you are not a Catholic. Read the article and try coming up with a guess of how many of the world’s 1.2 billion self-proclaimed Catholics are really Catholic under church dogma. I’m guessing the number of true Catholics is actually 2 or 3 orders of magnitude smaller.

Bill O’Reilly is not a Catholic, and neither are you!

Just on the very very off chance that Stephen Colbert or one of his staff actually (dare I say it) inadvertently stumble across my blog, I’ll plug Colbert’s book with the reference for my hybrid title in hopes of appeasing his lawyers him.
